    | 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. | 2. Lightly grease a 9" pie pan or glass pie plate. | 3. Peel, core and slice apples. | 4. Fill pie plate 3/4 full with apple slices. | 5. Mix 1/4 cup of the sugar, cinnamon and cardamom if using. Mix well and sprinkle over the apple slices. | 6. In a small saucepan melt butter or margarine and remove from heat. | 7. Add remaining sugar, flour and egg. | 8. Stir to mix well. | 9. Pour over apples . | 10. Bake for 45 minutes. | 11. Serve hot with ice cream. | 12. Note - The crust forms and goes through the pie.
