    | 1. Put the butter in a small saute pan set over low heat. | 2. Add the garlic and shallots. | 3. Saute for 2-3 min, until just softened. | 4. Remove from the heat and set aside. | 5. Fill a medium pot with water and bring it to a boil. | 6. Add a Tbs of kosher salt. | 7. Drop in the beans. | 8. Cook until they are tender but not mushy, from 60 seconds for the tiniest green beans to as long as 5 min for the larger ones. | 9. Taste frequently during cooking so that they are not overcooked. | 10. Drain and transfer to a serving dish. | 11. Add the shallot butter and sliced basil. | 12. Toss gently. | 13.
