    | 1. Preheat oven to 325°. | 2. In heavy bottom pan, slowly brown onions, butter and sugar until onions are dark brown, 30 minutes. With wooden spoon, scrape brown off the bottom of the pan occasionally. | 3. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 2 or 3 minutes. | 4. Add wine and cook for 2-3 minutes more. | 5. Add beef stick; simmer partially covered for 1 hour. | 6. To serve, place crouton on top of each bowl of soup (6 bowls). | 7. Cover generously with Swiss cheese and sprinkle with the Parmesan. | 8. Bake covered, for 15 minutes then uncover, bake another 10 minutes. | 9. Serve warmed and enjoy! | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
