    | 1. Trim fat from meat and cut meat into serving-size pieces. | 2. In a pan brown meat on all sides in hot oil and drain off any fat. | 3. Place the onions in the bottom of a crock pot. | 4. Add the meat on top. | 5. Combine coffee, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and oregano and pour over the meat and onions. | 6. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or cook on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours. | 7. Remove meat and onions to platter and keep warm. | 8. Measure 2 cups cooking juices and pour into a small saucepan. | 9. Discard bay leaves. | 10. Combine cold water and cornstarch and stir into saucepan with juices. | 11. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. | 12. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. | 13. Serve sauce with steak. | 14.
