    | 1. Fry bacon until just about crisp. | 2. Place on a paper towel to drain fat. | 3. Discard fat from frying pan except for about 1 tablespoon. | 4. Chop onion into 1 inch pieces. | 5. Place in pan and saute until translucent. | 6. Place on same paper towel to drain fat. | 7. In a large pot, place sauerkraut,1 or 2 cans of water, bacon and onion. | 8. Cook sauerkraut at least one half hour. | 9. Add salt and pepper to taste. | 10. Serve. | 11. Tastes better the next day. | 12.
