    | 1. Mazurek base: | 2. Sift together all dry ingredients by pulsing in food processor. | 3. Add chilled butter into flour pulse until crumbly. | 4. Add beaten yolks with cream and add to flour mixture, just till it comes together when squeezed with fingers, but still will be crumbly. | 5. Press dough into pan. | 6. Lay on buttered 8 inch square cake pan, pressing in to evenly cover the base. | 7. Chill for 5 minutes. | 8. Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. | 9. Mix apples and Southern Comfort together. | 10. Remove base from oven and cover with apple topping. | 11. Bake 20 minutes longer. | 12. Cool dust with powdered sugar or top with a sugar icing and garnish with sliced toasted almonds. | 13.
