    | 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. | 2. In a medium bowl whisk together all of the dry ingredients (sugar through cornstarch) and set aside. | 3. In a medium saucepan combine the half-and-half, whipping cream, and butter and turn heat on medium-low. Whisk the mixture of dry ingredients into the half-and-half mixture, and keep on whisking it as the mixture cooks and thickens (about 5 minutes). Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. | 4. Pour the filling mixture into a 9" unbaked pie shell. Place the pie on a baking sheet and put both into the oven for 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle of the pie, comes out clean. | 5. Remove the pie from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes and then place it in the refrigerator to finish chilling.
