    | 1. Heat the lard over medium heat in a sauce pan. | 2. While the lard is heating, grind cloves, allspice berries, and juniper berries in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle. | 3. When lard is melted, add red cabbage, and spice mixture. | 4. Fill empty cabbage jar half way with water and pour into sauce pan. | 5. Add a splash of the sweet vermouth. | 6. Boil for 30-45 minutes, stirring frequently. | 7. After most of the water is evaporated, add salt and sugar to taste. | 8. Either eat hot or put it in the fridge and eat cold. | 9.
