    | 1. In a saucepan, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp, about 5 minutes. | 2. Drain the fat from the pan. | 3. Add the onions and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. | 4. Meanwhile, peel and cube the potatoes. | 5. Add to the pan along with half of the chicken broth and bring to a boil. | 6. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. | 7. Using a potato masher or hand blender, mash several times to break up about half of the potatoes. | 8. Add the remaining broth, corn and broccoli. | 9. Simmer until the broccoli is tender, about 6 minutes. | 10. Reduce the heat to low. | 11. Stir in the milk, salt and pepper. | 12. Heat through but do not boil. | 13.
