    | 1. Put apples and 1/2 cup sugar in a 3 litre casserole. | 2. Sprinkle with cinnamon. | 3. Cream margarine and 1/2 cup sugar. | 4. Stir in egg. | 5. Stir in the vanilla. | 6. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk, ending with dry ingredients. | 7. Spoon over apples. | 8. Combine brown sugar and flour. | 9. Stir in margarine, vanilla and hot water. | 10. Pour over the batter, holding a spoon under it to disperse the water. | 11. Do not stir. | 12.
