    | 1. Cut chicken (or beef) into bite sized pieces and set aside. | 2. In container or bowl w/ tight fitting lid, mix together soy sauce, sugar, oil, pepper, and garlic powder. | 3. Stir till sugar is mostly disolved. | 4. add chicken and onion. | 5. stir till coated. | 6. cover and refrigerate for 30min to overnight. | 7. (30 min is plenty for chicken, for beef 2-3 hours is fine.) cook rice according to package directions. | 8. set aside. | 9. Heat wok or deep fry pan with cooking spray over med heat. | 10. Remove chicken from mixture with slotted spoon. | 11. Cook chicken till done. | 12. Add to wok/pan the marinade. | 13. Heat through. | 14. serve over rice, spooning sauce over in desired amount. | 15.
