    | 1. Heat canola oil in an electric skillet, at medium high heat. | 2. Add beef cubes and brown on one side. | 3. Turn beef cubes and add onion and garlic to the skillet. | 4. Sprinkle with salt pepper, Montreal Steak Seasoning, and thyme. | 5. Layer vegetables into crock pot in order listed. (Hard root vegetables should always go in the bottom of a crockpot.). | 6. Add browned beef, onion, and garlic on top of the vegetables. | 7. Dissolve bullion in hot water and pour over ingredients in crockpot. | 8. Place cover on crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours. Do not stir or lift lid. | 9. When stew is finished cooking, mix cold water and cornstarch in a small bowl and slowly stir into stew to thicken. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
