    | 1. Cook the rice until ¾ done. | 2. Take a thick bottomed pan. | 3. Heat oil in it, when hot put the mustard and cumin seeds to crackle. | 4. Add turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. | 5. Stir. | 6. Add the other pastes ans fry for a minute or two. | 7. Add the grated yam to this and cook until the yam is tender. | 8. Add the moong, peas and rice and mix well. | 9. Close with a concave lid, and pour water on the lid. | 10. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes or until all done. | 11. Garnish with tomato rose and cherries. | 12. Serve hot with tomato raita. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
